Nollywood’s box office queen, Funke Akindele, has given her stamp of approval to Iyabo Ojo’s latest project, Labake Olodo, set to hit cinemas on March 28.
Taking to Instagram, Funke shared the movie’s trailer, expressing her excitement:
“I’m loving this trailer!!!
I can’t wait to watch the movie!!
Congratulations @iyaboojofespris
Labake Olodo hits the cinemas March 28!!!
We can’t wait!!!!!”
Iyabo Ojo, in turn, responded with gratitude, calling Funke “Lefty”, a fond nickname.
From Rivalry to Friendship
Their public show of support is a testament to their rekindled friendship. The two actresses were once at loggerheads, stemming from Iyabo Ojo’s reaction to a blogger’s criticism of Toyin Abraham’s movie, The Ghost and the Tout.
However, they mended fences at the 2022 AMVCA when they embraced and exchanged pecks. Since then, they’ve consistently celebrated each other’s milestones, with Iyabo praising Funke on her 47th birthday and Funke returning the love on Iyabo’s 45th.
A Bond Beyond the Spotlight
Funke has also acknowledged Iyabo Ojo’s role in her career, revealing in an interview how Iyabo and Sikiratu Sindodo stood up for her when she was stereotyped early in Nollywood due to her looks. Their support helped her navigate the industry’s challenges and rise to fame.
With this latest endorsement, it’s clear their bond is stronger than ever, and fans are thrilled to see these two powerhouses supporting each other!
