Veteran Yoruba actor Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, has opened up about his initial plans for his children before they ventured into acting. Despite his legendary status in Nollywood, he never intended for his kids to follow in his footsteps.
“I Never Told Them to Join Nollywood” – Oga Bello
In an interview shared on Oga Bello TV’s YouTube channel, the iconic actor revealed that his main focus was their education rather than a career in the movie industry.
I never told my children to join filmmaking; my aim was for them to go to school. When they were younger, they used to plead with me to take them to movie locations, but I gave them a condition—if they wanted to join the movie industry, they had to pass their exams in school.
From Corporate Dreams to Nollywood Passion
Oga Bello also shared that he had secured job opportunities for his children in top companies, but their passion for acting led them to reject those offers. Today, his son, Femi Adebayo, is one of the biggest names in Nollywood, proving that talent and passion can pave the way for success.
A Proud Father in Nollywood
Although he initially hoped his children would choose different career paths, Oga Bello admitted that seeing their achievements in the film industry brings him immense joy.
I had the opportunity to get them decent jobs in lucrative companies, but they refused because they have a passion for filmmaking.
Clearly, passion won over tradition in the Adebayo household! What do you think—should parents push their kids toward “stable” jobs or let them follow their dreams? 🎬
