Fans of the beloved green ogre have reason to rejoice as Netflix has confirmed the return of Shrek to its platform. After causing an uproar by removing the iconic movie franchise last year, the streaming giant teased the comeback with a post on X (formerly Twitter). The image featured the word “Shrek” against a signature green background, captioned simply: “1 February.”
The announcement has sparked excitement among viewers who were left disappointed when Shrek disappeared from Netflix in 2024. Fans had taken to social media to vent their frustrations, with one calling the removal an “absolute disgrace” and urging Netflix to “do better.”
While it hasn’t been confirmed which Shrek films will be available, the franchise includes the original Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek The Third, Shrek Forever After, and a collection of festive specials.
With its return just days away, Netflix is giving fans a chance to relive the adventures of the lovable ogres, talking donkeys, and fairytale misfits who have captivated audiences for over two decades.
Mark your calendars for February 1st and get ready to revisit the swamp!
