Storm Reid Exits Euphoria Season 3, Citing Scheduling Conflicts

The long-awaited Euphoria season 3 is finally gaining momentum, with production slated to begin this month. While fans are excited to see Zendaya and much of the original cast, including Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Maude Apatow, and Alexa Demie, some familiar faces won’t return to the series.

Barbie Ferreira exited the show in August 2022 after season 2, and Javon Walton’s character arc concluded in the previous season. The heartbreaking passing of Angus Cloud, who played fan-favorite Fezco, also casts a shadow over the upcoming season.

Most recently, Emmy-winning actress Storm Reid confirmed that she won’t reprise her role as Gia Bennett, Rue’s younger sister. Speaking to Rotten Tomatoes at the Governors Awards in November 2024, Reid reflected on her departure:

“Unfortunately, Gia’s not returning to the third season, but I am so indebted to the cast and the crew of that show, to HBO. Euphoria is a really special thing, and I’m so glad that it’s part of my legacy.”

Storm Reid Reveals Why She Left Euphoria

In January 2025, Reid provided more context, revealing that scheduling conflicts were the primary reason for her departure. Between graduating from the University of Southern California and juggling other projects, the actress couldn’t make her schedule align with Euphoria’s production.

Reid told TMZ:

“Schedules just can’t align sometimes. But I’m so grateful to Euphoria and everyone involved. Even though I won’t be in season 3, I’m just as excited as everyone else to see what’s next.”

While Reid seemed hesitant to elaborate, fans speculate that her departure may also hint at significant plot changes in the new season, potentially tied to a rumored time jump.

What’s Next for Euphoria Season 3?

Since its last episode aired in 2022, Euphoria has faced countless rumors of conflict, delays, and even potential cancellation. However, HBO reaffirmed in late 2024 that the show would indeed return. While plot details remain under wraps, speculation suggests a possible time jump and darker developments for the characters.

As cameras start rolling, fans can expect more updates about the upcoming season. One thing is certain: even without some beloved characters, Euphoria season 3 is poised to keep its audience captivated.
