Brentford are reportedly closing in on the signing of Fiorentina’s highly-rated right-back Michael Kayode, beating Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool in the race for the Italy U21 international.
Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed via X that negotiations between Brentford and Fiorentina are in the final stages, with Kayode already giving the green light for the move. The transfer fee is expected to be around €17 million (£14.4 million), and both clubs are working on finalizing key details.
Kayode, just 20 years old, has been on the radar of several top clubs, including Aston Villa, but Brentford appear poised to seal the deal. The former Juventus academy prospect has made 49 senior appearances for Fiorentina and earned four caps for Italy’s U21 side, showcasing his rapid development as a dynamic full-back.
Scouting reports have highlighted Kayode’s exceptional pace, physicality, and defensive awareness, with comparisons drawn to Manchester City’s Kyle Walker and Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries. His ability to recover quickly and stop counterattacks, coupled with his bravery and consistency, makes him an exciting addition to the Premier League.
Should the deal go through, Kayode will bring a blend of youthful energy and technical ability to Brentford, further strengthening their defensive lineup as they continue to compete in England’s top flight.
