Keanu Reeves, now 60, has expressed doubts about his physical ability to return as the iconic assassin in a potential fifth John Wick film. During a recent appearance on CBS Mornings, Reeves shared that while his heart is eager, his body might not keep up with the action-packed demands of the franchise.

“You can never say never,” Reeves said with a smile, “but my knees right now are saying, ‘You can’t do another John Wick.’” He added, “My heart [wants to], I don’t know if my knees can do it.”

Though another chapter in the main franchise may be uncertain, Reeves will still step back into the John Wick universe with a cameo in the upcoming spinoff, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina.

A Legacy in Action

The John Wick series has been a global phenomenon, known for its intense fight sequences and Reeves’ dedication to performing many of his own stunts. However, the actor hinted that the physical toll of such high-intensity roles might make it challenging to continue.

Despite the uncertainty, Reeves has stayed busy. He recently voiced the villain Shadow in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and continues to receive accolades for his performance in John Wick 4. At the 2023 premiere of the fourth installment, Reeves called the film’s success “very special,” further solidifying his connection to the beloved franchise.

For fans, Reeves’ potential departure from the role marks the end of an era but also highlights his incredible contributions to modern action cinema. While his knees may be signaling the end, his portrayal of John Wick will remain legendary.
