The Netflix spy thriller Black Doves, starring Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw, is officially coming back for a second season.
The critically acclaimed first season followed Helen Webb (Knightley), a seemingly ordinary wife and mother who secretly worked as a spy, leaking secrets from her politician husband to the covert Black Doves organization. The plot thickened when her lover, Jason, was assassinated, prompting Helen to team up with assassin Sam Young (Whishaw) to uncover a conspiracy tied to a looming geopolitical crisis.
Set against a festive London backdrop, the series masterfully blended espionage with emotional drama.
In a teaser clip released by Netflix, Helen and Sam reunite in a bar decked with Christmas decorations. After toasting to the first season, they cryptically hint at the next chapter, unwrapping bullets and dropping them into their glasses of fizz. The clip ends with Netflix’s confirmation: “Black Doves Season 2 is coming, darlings.”
Knightley, who also serves as an executive producer, collaborates with an all-star team that includes Jane Featherstone (This Is Going to Hurt), Chris Fry (Giri/Haji), and Joe Barton (The Lazarus Project).
The return of Knightley and Whishaw, both award-winning actors, is highly anticipated. Knightley is celebrated for her roles in Pride & Prejudice, The Imitation Game, and Pirates of the Caribbean, while Whishaw’s accolades include BAFTAs for This Is Going to Hurt and A Very English Scandal.
Fans can expect another gripping season of intrigue, emotional depth, and high-stakes espionage. Netflix has yet to announce a release date, but the buzz surrounding Black Doves continues to grow.
