In a surprising off-field development, Viktor Gyökeres summoned to court has become headline news. The newly signed Arsenal striker is set to appear as a witness in a high-profile defamation trial in Sweden, which could potentially sideline him during critical matches.

Gyökeres’ agent, Hasan Cetinkaya of HCM Sports Management, is taking legal action against two Swedish publications Fotboll Sthlm and Expressen for allegedly defaming him by suggesting links to organized crime. Gyökeres has agreed to testify in the case, which is scheduled for Stockholm District Court from February 4–11, 2026

According to statements by Cetinkaya’s lawyer, Gyökeres will testify that a person identified in the media reports a childhood friend has no connection to Cetinkaya or his business activities.

This legal obligation could affect his availability for Arsenal during early 2026. Notably, the trial clashes with two key Premier League matches against Sunderland at home and Brentford away—which may force manager Mikel Arteta to adjust his squad plans.

FourFourTwo reports that Gyökeres has broadly agreed to testify and is not suspected of any wrongdoing himself it’s purely a supportive role for his agent’s defense.
