The world of Avatar is expanding faster than ever. Fans of both the original animated series and the Netflix live-action adaptation have multiple reasons to celebrate, as new Avatar projects 2026 will deliver three distinct experiences across film and television.

The upcoming slate includes the long-awaited second season of Netflix’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” a brand new animated feature film centered on Aang, and an original animated series titled “Avatar: Seven Havens.” Here is everything you need to know about each project.

Netflix’s live-action reimagining of the beloved Nickelodeon series returns for its second season on June 25. The first season, which premiered in February 2024, introduced a new generation to the story of Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Zuko.

Season 2 will adapt the “Earth” book from the original series, following Aang and his companions as they journey through the Earth Kingdom. Expect to see the introduction of fan-favorite characters like Toph Beifong, the blind earthbending prodigy, and a deeper exploration of Azula’s ruthless pursuit of the Avatar. Production wrapped late last year, and early set reports suggest the visual effects budget has increased substantially.

Before Netflix’s live-action series continues, audiences will get something entirely different: an animated feature film titled “Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender,” arriving in theaters on October 9.

This is not a remake of the series. According to Paramount and Nickelodeon Animation, the film follows an adult Aang as he navigates new threats to the balance of the four nations. The voice cast includes returning talent from the original animated series, though specific names have not been confirmed. The film is produced by Avatar Studios, the division launched by original creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino in 2021.

The most mysterious of the three projects is “Avatar: Seven Havens,” an entirely new animated television series with no confirmed release date yet.

Details remain scarce, but the title suggests a departure from the traditional four-nations structure. The “Seven Havens” could refer to seven surviving sanctuaries in a post-cataclysm world, possibly following a new Avatar born after Korra. The series is expected to run multiple seasons and will air on Nickelodeon and stream on Paramount+. An official announcement regarding casting and a premiere window is expected later this year.

This is the most aggressive rollout of Avatar content since the original series ended in 2008. Between the live-action adaptation, theatrical animated films, and new original series, Konietzko and DiMartino are building a connected universe in ways that were never possible during the original run.

For fans who grew up with Aang, Katara, and Zuko, October brings a chance to see those characters again on the big screen. For newer viewers who discovered the world through Netflix, June offers the next chapter of the live-action story. And for everyone else, “Seven Havens” promises something nobody has seen before.

One thing is certain. The elements are aligning for the biggest year in Avatar history.
