Stephen Amell Teases Green Arrow Return After 6 Years: ‘Just When I Think I’m Out’

Stephen Amell has DC fans buzzing. The actor posted a cryptic Instagram reel Sunday teasing a possible return as Oliver Queen, six years after Arrow ended. The clip showed a pencil sketch of a hooded archer taped to a wall with the question “Have you seen this man?” before cutting to Amell sitting in a café with his hand on his head, looking like a man who knows exactly what he just started. The audio was Blake Neely’s “Setting Up the Lair,” the Arrow main theme. His caption: “Just when I think I’m out…”

The Stephen Amell Green Arrow return tease comes amid a flurry of speculation. Fans flooded the comments, with one writing “James Gunn I dare you” and another calling it their “sign to go rewatch Green Arrow”. The timing is notable: it arrived one day after Zack Snyder celebrated Batman Day with Batfleck, and insiders have reportedly said Snyder’s The Dark Knight Returns adaptation is ready to go. Frank Miller’s original graphic novel features an aging Oliver Queen with one arm who takes down Superman with a kryptonite arrow, a role Amell, now 45, could plausibly fill.

Amell has been open about wanting to return. At Motor City Comic Con in 2025, he said he would be “down to do anything that makes the fans happy” and that he loves playing Oliver Queen. He’s also never forgotten a Peacemaker joke that took a shot at the Arrowverse, calling it “unnecessary” and saying the show was “kind of treated like shit” . No official project has been announced, and James Gunn’s DC Universe has no Green Arrow plans confirmed. But Amell’s caption, a line from The Godfather Part III, says it all. He thought he was out. Maybe he isn’t.
