In a recent interview with Naija FM, fast-rising artist Crown Uzama, better known as Shallipopi, crowned Nigerian rap sensation Olamide as the ultimate “king” of street music. Shallipopi, who featured Olamide on his hit single “Order,” explained that the collaboration was a natural fit due to Olamide’s street influence and legendary status in the genre.
“Baddo [Olamide] is the father and king of Nigerian street music,” Shallipopi shared. “So I had to feature him on ‘Order’ because it is a street song, and Olamide owns the street.”
During the interview, Shallipopi also confirmed his departure from Dapper Music, noting that he left amicably after his contract expired. He dismissed rumors of any fallout with the label, emphasizing that they remain on good terms.
This latest collaboration between Shallipopi and Olamide underscores the dynamic influence Olamide continues to wield in Nigerian street music, even as he passes the torch to emerging artists like Shallipopi. Fans of both artists are thrilled by the recognition and respect, further cementing Olamide’s legacy as a pivotal figure in the genre.
