Wumi Toriola’s Queen Lateefah has made a significant mark on Nollywood’s box office, grossing an impressive ₦333.7 million since its release on September 27, 2024. The family comedy-drama has sold over 80,500 tickets and now ranks as the seventh highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time.

The movie, which was released outside the typical December blockbuster period, has joined the ranks of other top earners such as Ajosepo (₦257.2 million) and Ajakaju (₦252.8 million). Its success is a notable achievement, proving its strong performance beyond the high-demand holiday season.

Directed by Adeoluwa Owu and distributed by Cinemax, Queen Lateefah tells the story of Lateefah Adeleke, a 30-year-old businesswoman who has lived a life of deception, presenting herself as a world traveler from a high-society background. The film explores her secrets, as her past is uncovered through her interactions with Jide Rhodes, a businessman. The movie stars Kunle Remi, Femi Adebayo, Nancy Isime, and others.

In its opening weekend, the film earned ₦57 million, and by mid-October, it had crossed the ₦200 million mark. Queen Lateefah is now recognized as a major success in Nollywood’s non-December releases, cementing its place in the industry’s top box office rankings.
