Marvel Studios has reportedly scrapped Mahershala Ali’s Blade solo film, announced at 2019 SDCC and plagued by six directors, multiple rewrites since. Insider Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic podcast revealed: “Blade is dead… He will not be introduced in a solo movie. He’ll be introduced in Midnight Sons.” Project removed from release slate October 2024 amid Multiverse Saga prioritization.
tAli’s Daywalker shifts to Midnight Sons ensemble featuring supernatural anti-heroes like Ghost Rider (Ryan Gosling), Moon Knight, Morbius, Jennifer’s Body, possibly Elsa Bloodstone. Voice cameo in Eternals post-credits (2021), Deadpool & Wolverine Deadpool Corps variant tease the team-up trajectory toward Avengers: Doomsday/Secret Wars.
Rumored 2028 release at earliest post-development hell. Stacy Title, Bassam Tariq, Yann Demange exited directing amid Ali’s creative input; Eric Pearson (Black Widow) last writer attached. Wesley Snipes’ Deadpool & Wolverine return (2024) overshadowed reboot woes. Marvel streamlines slate. Blade joins Midnight Sons shadows.
