Lil Durk Trial: 35 Witnesses, Lyrics to Be Used as Evidence

Federal prosecutors are preparing a massive case against Lil Durk in his upcoming murder-for-hire trial. During a recent court hearing, the government announced it has 35 witnesses ready to testify, including 20 expected to provide key information in the case against the Chicago rapper.

Prosecutors have also scored a significant legal victory. The judge will allow some of Durk’s music to be admitted as evidence, including his “Piss Me Off” song and music video, along with lyrics from “Back Again,” “Still Trappin'” and “Redman”. The government called “Piss Me Off” a “call to arms” for revenge following the 2020 killing of King Von, arguing that the song was intentionally released after Von’s death and that the “slide” mentioned in the song was later procured for the attack against Quando Rondo.

The defense, led by attorney Christy O’Connor, has pushed back, arguing that “Piss Me Off” is a memorial for multiple people, including Durk’s late brother, Dontay Banks, who was murdered in 2021. Durk has pleaded not guilty and maintains his innocence, with the trial scheduled to begin on August 20.
