The sudden death of British singer Lauren Bennett is now under official investigation in England. The 36-year-old artist, best known for her feature on LMFAO’s global smash “Party Rock Anthem,” died on May 29 in Meopham, Kent. The Kent and Medway Coroner Service opened a death investigation on June 12, with a formal inquest scheduled to proceed until October 30.

The investigation comes as no cause of death has been publicly announced, leaving fans and the music industry searching for answers about the sudden loss of the young artist.

Bennett began her career at just 18, forming the Paradiso Girls in 2007 before launching a solo run in 2010 and collaborating with artists like CeeLo Green and will.i.am. She skyrocketed to fame in 2011 when she appeared on LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem,” one of the defining pop hits of the decade.

She later joined the girl group G.R.L., which found success with tracks like “Ugly Heart” and Pitbull’s “Wild Wild Love” before disbanding in 2015 . Her final solo single, “Hurricane,” was inspired by her mother’s and a close friend’s mental health struggles.

Bennett’s death marks the second tragedy for G.R.L., following the 2014 suicide of member Simone Battle at age 25. The group disbanded after Battle’s death but later reunited briefly. Bennett is survived by her partner, actor and dancer Kenny Wormald, and their six-year-old daughter, Harlow.

A private memorial service was held in London about a week and a half after her passing, with family and closest friends gathering to celebrate her life, including her former bandmates from G.R.L. and Paradiso Girls. For now, the music world waits for answers about the sudden loss of a bright talent taken too soon.
