Nigerian Nollywood actor Jim Iyke sparked debate after stating on Okay 101.7 FM in Accra, Ghana that “a single mother cannot raise a man properly,” arguing women need male assistance.
The actor claimed women are “naturally built to nurture” but need male figures like brothers or fathers to provide discipline, saying “You need somebody that would discipline him, tell him ‘No’ as often times as possible.”
Iyke argued that without male influence, single mothers would raise “very weak men” who become like “the men that left you.”
The controversial comments have generated heated online discussions about parenting and gender roles.
