Jessica Simpson is officially back on the dating scene.
The 45-year-old singer and entrepreneur, who announced her separation from husband Eric Johnson earlier this year, says she’s open to love again — and eager to meet someone new.
In a recent interview with Today show co-host Jenna Bush Hager, Jessica didn’t hold back when asked if she’s ready to date: “I’d totally jump on that. Yes, I’m single — very into, like, very… I’m ready!”
When Jenna pressed further, asking what kind of person she’s looking for, Jessica gave a thoughtful answer. “My type of person is one of a kind. I don’t have a look, or anything,” she explained. “I just like for somebody to be individually who they are — and exude confidence without the ego.”
She added that she’s not looking for someone to constantly support her, saying, “The independence that I have right now — if I can have that and give it to someone else, that’d be cool.”
Jessica and Eric, who were married for over a decade and share three children — Maxwell (12), Ace (11), and Birdie (5) — revealed their split in January. In her announcement, Jessica said the two had been living separately while working through a “painful situation” in their marriage.
“Our children come first,” she shared at the time. “We are focusing on what is best for them… and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”
Before Johnson, Jessica was married to fellow singer Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2006. With a fresh start ahead, she’s now embracing single life and looking forward to what comes next.
