I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! could be swinging through the jungle until at least 2030, as ITV is reportedly in talks to lock in a long-term deal to keep the hit reality show going for another five years.
According to The Sun, ITV is looking to secure the show’s iconic Murwillumbah location in New South Wales, Australia, beyond the current agreement. If successful, this would take the series all the way to its landmark 30th season. This marks a change in strategy for the broadcaster, which previously only signed three-year contracts to use the jungle site.
Talks are now underway with Australian authorities and the Tweed Shire Council, which must approve any extended filming agreements. A council spokesperson confirmed the negotiations, stating:
“They will need to seek permission again – we can’t give open-ended filming permissions to anyone.”
A TV insider added:
“The production team are planning five years in advance, which is a long-term approach they haven’t adopted before. But this is not a done deal with the local authorities… they’re hopeful all parties will reach some kind of agreement.”
The move comes as I’m A Celebrity continues to dominate ratings for ITV. The 24th series, aired in 2024, attracted an average of 9.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched entertainment show of the year.
First launched in 2002, the series has grown into a cultural staple in the UK. Hosted by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, both 48, the show has sent dozens of celebrities into the wild to face creepy-crawly challenges and compete for public support.
The show temporarily moved to Gwrych Castle in Wales during the 2020 and 2021 pandemic years, but returned to Australia in 2022.
Its most recent series crowned McFly’s Danny Jones the jungle king, with Richard Coles and Coleen Rooney finishing as runners-up. The 25th season is set to return this autumn, though ITV has yet to reveal the full celebrity line-up.
If the deal goes through, viewers can expect even more bug-eating, snake-pit-diving, and star-hunting antics in the Australian jungle through the rest of the decade.
