Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao has finally addressed the drama that erupted following Bobrisky’s arrest at the premiere of her film, Beast of Two Worlds: Ajakaju. The controversy stemmed from her decision to crown the controversial influencer as the Best-Dressed Female, a move that sparked outrage across the Yoruba movie industry and online spaces alike.
In a candid interview on Oyinmomo’s YouTube channel, Ajao set the record straight. She emphasized that Bobrisky’s arrest had nothing to do with her event, but rather stemmed from issues related to currency misuse, which he’s currently facing with law enforcement.
“I don’t have any issue with Bobrisky. He knew why he was arrested… I wasn’t behind Bobrisky’s arrest,” she clarified. “I have always supported him, and I even visited him when others stayed away.”
The Strategy Behind the Viral Moment
Ajao admitted that naming Bobrisky as the best-dressed female was a publicity stunt, one she believed would draw more attention to her film. And it did — just not the kind she expected.
“It was meant to be fun,” she explained, revealing that the backlash from her colleagues in the Yoruba movie scene caught her off guard. “I didn’t think it would cause this much trouble. I reached out to them to explain that it was all for the film’s promo.”
However, the stunt backfired, prompting heated debates over morality, gender identity, and professionalism in the industry. The fallout left Ajao emotionally drained, and she has since taken steps to make amends.
Making Peace and Moving On
In an attempt to soothe tensions, Ajao recognized two female attendees — Bose Alao and another guest — as co-winners, each receiving N1 million as a goodwill gesture. It was a move to refocus the conversation on women’s fashion and redirect the spotlight back to the film’s goals.
Still, Ajao isn’t backing down from supporting Bobrisky as a friend.
“Many of his friends neglected him when he was arrested, but I stood by him,” she said, reaffirming that her relationship with Bobrisky remains intact, despite the chaos.
