The “Panda” rapper is behind bars following a terrifying domestic incident in South Carolina. Desiigner, whose real name is Sidney Royel Selby III, was arrested on July 15 after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend while she held their young child in her arms.
According to a Horry County police report, the 29-year-old rapper and the woman began arguing after he removed televisions from the walls of their shared residence. The dispute escalated when he allegedly grabbed her two phones and smashed them with a hammer to prevent her from calling 911.
The woman told investigators she sprinted outside with their child and began yelling for help. After initially seeking shelter at a neighbor’s home, she was allegedly chased down by Desiigner in a yard, where he threw her to the ground and ripped her designer handbag from her before tossing it away.
She managed to get back up with the child still in her arms and dashed into a different neighbor’s home, locking herself in the bathroom. The rapper then allegedly used a hammer and screwdriver to damage the neighbor’s vehicles, causing significant property damage.
The “Panda” hitmaker is accused of causing $2,700 in damage to the victim’s phones and Dior handbag . He then allegedly smashed several windows at the neighbor’s home, causing another $6,000 in damage, before banging on another neighbor’s car window and requesting to use her phone.
Desiigner faces one count of second-degree domestic violence, along with three counts of malicious injury to personal property involving damage valued between $2,000 and $10,000. No bond has been set on the domestic violence charge or two of the property damage counts.
This marks Desiigner’s second domestic violence arrest this year. He was previously arrested in March on a third-degree domestic violence charge stemming from an incident involving the same woman. The rapper also faced federal charges in 2023 for indecent exposure on a flight from Tokyo to Minneapolis.
