Dave Franco has revealed that he’s not ruling out the idea of portraying Luigi Mangione—the man accused of the high-profile murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson—in a future film.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the 40-year-old actor addressed the growing public buzz about his resemblance to Mangione and the fan demand to see him in the role.
“No one has approached me about it yet,” Franco admitted. “But this is something that more people in my life reached out about than anything else that has ever happened. So let’s just say I’m open—if it’s the right people—and let’s leave it at that.”
Franco previously told The Hollywood Reporter that he had “never received more texts in my life” than when the public began drawing comparisons between him and Mangione, who is currently awaiting trial and has pleaded not guilty.
Balancing Dark Drama with Horror and Heists
Beyond the Mangione speculation, Franco is staying busy on the big screen. He stars alongside his wife, Alison Brie, in the supernatural horror film Together, where the couple plays lovers whose bodies and lives are changed by an eerie force after relocating to the countryside.
While filming intense scenes with his real-life partner, Franco confessed the emotional toll:
“There were mornings when I’d wake up and think, ‘I don’t know how I’m going to do this,’” he said. “But once we got on set, it was like we were getting away with something.”
Brie added that being married helped them explore the film’s deeper themes:
“Couples who are together a long time speak their own language, breathe the same air… but what happens when you start to lose your individuality?”
Return to the Magic
Franco is also set to return as street illusionist Jack Wilder in Now You See Me 3: Now You Don’t, which is slated for release in November. He teased even more jaw-dropping magic and tighter cast chemistry:
“The gang is back. I’m learning new ways to throw cards. We genuinely love each other, and I think that connection shows. I’d love to keep the franchise going.”
Whether or not he steps into the shoes of Luigi Mangione, one thing’s for sure—Dave Franco has no shortage of roles (and range) on his hands.
