Awilo Longomba, widely regarded as one of the most influential artists in African music history, has been a dominant figure in the industry for decades. Known for his infectious rhythms and high-energy performances, he rose to fame in the 1990s and has maintained relevance with timeless hits like “Coupé Bibamba,” “Karolina,” and “Loi”. His influence has shaped contemporary African music and inspired generations of artists across the continent and beyond.
In a video shared on the Headies Awards’ official social media page, Awilo expressed his joy and gratitude for the honor. He described the Hall of Fame induction as a dream come true that validates his life’s work and celebrates his contribution to the African music industry. “I am filled with immense gratitude and excitement to share this moment with my fans,” he said.
The 18th Headies Awards will take place on October 25, 2026, in Toronto, Canada, under the theme “Africa to the World.” The event aims to celebrate the global impact of African music and its artists.
