The Cross River State Government has announced work-free days for civil and public servants to encourage maximum participation in the renowned Carnival Calabar. Governor Bassey Otu declared Friday, December 27, and Tuesday, December 31, 2024, as holidays to celebrate key events during the carnival season.
According to the Governor’s statement on Thursday, December 27 is set aside for the Junior Carnival Parade, while December 31 is dedicated to New Year’s Eve festivities, leading into the federal holiday on January 1, 2025. All other dates remain regular workdays for civil and public servants.
In preparation for the Carnival Calabar, vehicular movement will be restricted along the 12-kilometer carnival route in the Calabar metropolis on Saturday, December 28. Motorists are urged to use alternative routes to ensure smooth traffic flow and enhance the safety and enjoyment of attendees.
Governor Otu also extended warm holiday greetings to residents and visitors, wishing them a joyful celebration and a prosperous New Year. The announcement highlights the administration’s commitment to preserving the vibrant cultural heritage of Cross River State and providing an unforgettable experience for all participants.
