Nigerian Grammy-winner Burna Boy has once again stamped his authority on the Afrobeats scene, becoming the only artist to top NotJustOk’s Afrobeats Power Ranking twice in 2025.
The African Giant, known for his genre-bending Afro-fusion, powerful protest anthems, and global stage presence, reclaimed the top spot in May 2025, displacing Davido, who had previously taken over in April.
According to NotJustOk, Burna Boy’s comeback to the No. 1 position was fueled by the release of his smash single “Tatata”, a high-energy collaboration with American rapper Travis Scott. Dropped on May 21, 2025, Tatata has already racked up over 15 million Spotify streams, cementing its status as one of the most streamed African songs of the month.
Produced by Chillz Chilleaux and Onome Ojoboh, the track offers a lively, club-ready bounce infused with Burna’s signature “lamba” and a fun, global appeal that cuts across cultures.
This isn’t Burna’s first chart-topping moment in 2025—he previously held the No. 1 spot in March, followed closely by Davido and Rema. But with this second win, he’s the only artist so far to do it twice in a single year since the Afrobeats Power Ranking launched in January 2025.
Burna’s consistency, strong streaming numbers, international collaborations, and dominant performance across major platforms continue to set him apart in a year that’s been fiercely competitive for Afrobeats stars.
As fans await his upcoming album “No Sign of Weakness”, all eyes remain on Burna Boy, who seems far from slowing down.
