Burna Boy has cemented his legacy as a global music icon by becoming the first Nigerian artist to have two albums surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify. This historic achievement places him at the forefront of African music on the international stage.
The Grammy winner’s 2019 album, African Giant, recently joined his 2022 album, Love, Damini, in the billion-stream club. African Giant, which features hit songs like “On The Low” (304 million streams), “Gbona” (185 million streams), and “Anybody” (90 million streams), was a breakout album that solidified Burna Boy’s global presence with its fusion of Afrobeats, reggae, and dancehall influences.
Love, Damini, Burna Boy’s sixth album, is his most commercially successful project to date, boasting global hits like “Last Last,” which has reached 451 million streams, and “For Your Hand” featuring Ed Sheeran, which has 289 million streams.
With this milestone, Burna Boy continues to set new standards for Nigerian and African music worldwide, establishing himself as one of the continent’s most influential music exports.
