The Bruno Mars gambling debt rumors have followed the pop superstar for over two years. Now, he has finally set the record straight. During the opening night of The Romantic Tour at Las Vegas’s Allegiant Stadium on April 10, Mars declared himself officially debt-free.
Silk Sonic collaborator Anderson. Paak sparked the moment with a playful joke. “I hate to make this about me, but when I think about how much debt, I mean, how many steps it took to get here, I get emotional,”Paak said. Mars responded with a smirk: “I’m debt-free. I paid the casino off a long time ago”. The crowd erupted as.Paak broke into a praise dance.
The Bruno Mars debt-free casino declaration is his most definitive statement yet. He previously joked about the rumors on social media, including an Instagram post when he became the first artist to reach 150 million Spotify listeners. “KEEP STREAMING! I’ll be out of debt in no time,” he wrote at the time.
Reports in 2024 claimed Mars had accumulated $50 million in gambling debt at MGM Resorts properties, where he has performed residencies since 2016. The speculation suggested he kept renewing his MGM partnership to work off what he owed. MGM publicly denied the claims, calling them “completely false”. A spokesperson stated, “MGM and Bruno’s partnership is longstanding and rooted in mutual respect. He has no debt with MGM”.
The debt-free announcement came during a historic weekend for Mars. Just hours before the concert, Las Vegas declared April 10 “Bruno Mars Day,” renamed a street “Bruno Mars Drive,” and threw a Strip parade with Mars riding in a pink low-rider. MGM Resorts CEO Bill Hornbuckle called him the “new king of Las Vegas,” adding that the company is “all-in on Bruno” with plans to expand their partnership beyond the city.
Mars also pledged $1 million to the Las Vegas Children’s Hospital, which MGM matched.
