British Actor Terence Stamp, Superman’s General Zod and Priscilla Star, Dies at 87

British actor Terence Stamp, famous for playing villain General Zod in “Superman” and “Superman II,” died Sunday at age 87.

His family said he died Sunday morning, adding “He leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor.” Stamp received an Oscar nomination for his film debut in “Billy Budd” in 1962.

The London-born actor also starred in “The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert,” “Far From the Madding Crowd,” and formed one of Britain’s most glamorous couples with Julie Christie in the 1960s.
