BBNaija S10: Jason Jae Becomes First to Retain ‘Head of House’ in New Challenger Format

Jason Jae is officially the first housemate to retain the Head of House (HoH) title in Big Brother Naija Season 10, following a tense Monday night challenger game.

Originally named interim HoH on Sunday after receiving popular nominations from fellow housemates, Jason secured full leadership rights on Monday by defeating five contenders — Sultana, Dede, Kuture, Rooboy, and Bright Morgan — in a timed challenge.

A New Era for the HoH Title

This victory marks a historic moment as Jason Jae becomes the first ever housemate to win under BBNaija’s revamped “10-over-10” game format, introduced this season to up the ante on strategy and survival.

Unlike previous editions, being Head of House no longer guarantees safety or comfort. In this season’s twist, HoH must defend their title every Monday night in a highly competitive challenge — or risk losing it.

Jason triumphed in 2 minutes and 44 seconds, the fastest time in the new HoH Challenger Game format, narrowly beating Rooboy in a nail-biting finish

Biggie Praises Jason’s Performance

Following his win, Big Brother lauded Jason Jae as the “quickest and sharpest” housemate of the night.

The show’s official X account (formerly Twitter) celebrated his victory:

“Jason Jae has stepped up and claimed the crown. Your new #BBNaija Head of House is ready to reign and shake things up. Let the HOH era begin!”

What Is the ‘10 Over 10’ Format?

Announced by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Saturday night, this new format is BBNaija’s way of raising the stakes in its milestone 10th season. The “10-over-10” pattern includes:

• Weekly HoH challenger games (not just one-time wins)

No guaranteed immunity — HoH must earn it weekly

More power shifts, intense strategy, and social maneuvering

Biggest Prize in BBNaija History

This season, BBNaija is also offering a jaw-dropping ₦150 million grand prize — the highest in the show’s two-decade history. The female housemates were unveiled on Saturday, while their male counterparts entered the house on Sunday.

With the new format and a massive prize at stake, housemates are already playing harder and smarter, and Jason Jae just set the tone.

Can he keep the crown again next Monday? Or will a new challenger rise? The game just got real.
