At least one person has died after an Amazon cargo plane crash at Miami International Airport on Sunday, September 6, 2026, according to dispatch audio obtained. The Amazon Air Boeing 767 went off the runway and into a roadway near the airport. Dispatch audio indicated a deceased patient was found beneath the plane’s right wing.
The jet was arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, when it overran the runway. Dispatch audio indicated it struck a truck after leaving the airport grounds. Emergency responders were heard warning, “The plane’s on fire, put your game faces on.” Video from the scene showed the aircraft surrounded by smoke and flames as crews flooded the area. The plane was seen split in half with its wing partially separated from the fuselage.
All three crew members survived the crash and were taken to a local hospital, with one listed in critical condition. The person found under the wing has not been identified. Amazon said in a statement that the company was gathering information and working with local officials, adding that its priority is the safety and care of everyone involved.
