Australia’s Airlines Face Challenges

Australia’s carriers struggled in the 2024 rankings. Qantas emerged as the most reliable domestic airline with an on-time arrival rate of 73.85%, followed by Jetstar (73.39%) and Virgin Australia (72.70%). However, none made it into the global top-performing list.

In the Asia-Pacific region, Qantas ranked in the top 10 but trailed behind regional leaders like Japan Airlines (80.90%) and Air New Zealand (77.58%).

Domestic vs. International Performance in Australia

Australian domestic flights faced more delays compared to international ones. In November 2024, only 68.4% of domestic flights across all carriers arrived on time, with Qantas and Virgin Australia recording 68% and 62.7% punctuality rates, respectively.
