Rapper and business mogul Jay-Z has firmly denied allegations that he r@ped a 13-year-old girl alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs in 2000, calling the claims “idiotic” and accusing attorney Tony Buzbee of blackmail and exploitation for personal gain.
The updated lawsuit, filed by the alleged victim under anonymity, accuses the pair of assaulting her during an after-party following the MTV Video Music Awards. Jay-Z, 55, responded via a statement on Roc Nation’s official X account, condemning both the allegations and the motives of the attorney representing the plaintiff.
In his statement, Jay-Z wrote:
My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee… These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away.
Jay-Z went on to question the credibility of Buzbee, calling him a “fraud” and asserting that the lawyer’s history indicates a pattern of publicity-driven theatrics. He vowed to defend his innocence, stating:
“No, sir, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY. It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion.”
The rapper concluded with a strong warning:
“You claim to be a marine?! Marines are known for their valor; you have neither honor nor dignity. I look forward to showing you just how different I am.”
The lawsuit against Jay-Z comes amid an updated wave of civil cases targeting Sean Combs. While some claims have been dropped, the court has allowed the then-13-year-old victim to proceed with anonymity, citing sufficient cause.
