Atlanta rapper Young Thug has finally spoken out about his lengthy probation sentence, weeks after being released from jail on October 31. Fans had been eager to hear from the “Go Crazy” hitmaker following his surprising guilty plea in the YSL RICO trial—a decision made without negotiating a plea deal. Despite his gamble, the judge showed leniency, sentencing him to time served but slapping him with 15 years of strict probation.
The probation comes with major conditions: a 20-year suspended sentence that could be enforced if he slips up, a 10-year ban from Metro Atlanta, hefty fines, and 100 hours of community service. Thugger’s father, Jeffery Williams Sr., has voiced frustration over the banishment, calling it unfair given that Atlanta is his son’s hometown.
During a recent FaceTime call with his defense attorney Keith Adams, shared during a Livestream with TheFitLawyerATL, Young Thug expressed his desire to be freed from the probation. “Get me off this probation,” he pleaded, while also asking about missing jewelry from his May 2022 arrest.
Adams revealed that Thugger had mixed feelings after hearing the not-guilty verdicts for his YSL co-defendants, Deamonte “Yak Gotti” Kendrick and Shannon Stillwell. “Jeffery was happy for them but had some regrets,” Adams said. “He felt he might have walked free too had he gone to trial, but he made a decision to take the plea and go home that day.”
Despite his probation woes, Young Thug seems to be enjoying his freedom. High-profile friends like Drake, T.I., and Lil Baby have rallied around him, with Drake reportedly gifting him $1 million on the day of his release. While adjusting to his new reality, Thugger’s fans remain hopeful that his legal team will find a way to ease the conditions of his probation.
