American rapper Curtis Jackson, better known as 50 Cent, recently revealed that he declined a $3 million offer to perform at a rally for Republican Party candidate Donald Trump at Madison Square Garden in New York.
During an interview on The Breakfast Club, the rapper confirmed that he “got a call” and was asked to perform his hit song “Many Men, Wish Death” at the Republican National Convention for a similar fee. However, he turned down the offers due to his concerns about the divisive nature of politics.
“I didn’t even go far… I didn’t talk to them about that kinda stuff. I’m afraid about politics,” he explained. “It’s because when you do get involved in it, no matter how you feel, someone passionately disagrees with you.”
50 Cent’s remarks shed light on the hesitation some celebrities feel about taking political sides, knowing the impact it can have on their public image.
