After a 17-year break, gospel music powerhouse Yolanda Adams is back with her highly anticipated album, Sunny Days. This new release marks her first major label project in nearly two decades and her first album in 13 years, as reported by People Magazine.
The album boasts 15 soul-stirring tracks, including two remixes of the lead single “Church Doors”, further cementing Adams’ legacy in contemporary gospel. At 63, Yolanda continues to captivate audiences with her powerful vocals and inspirational lyrics.
Adams is no stranger to success. Her 1999 album, Mountain High…Valley Low, was a groundbreaking hit, securing her place as a gospel music legend. Reflecting on her creative process, she shared with People: “I just loved the process of getting those songs out of my head and heart onto a computer and into the ears and the hearts of people. Music should always get into the heads, hearts, hands, and feet of people—because I love to dance.”
Yolanda’s journey back to the studio wasn’t without its challenges. Scheduling conflicts and the pandemic caused delays, but she pushed through. “By the end of 2023, we were back in the saddle, ready to go, and Sylvia Rhone said, ‘We need two more songs,’” Adams revealed. “Those last two tracks—Church Doors and Blessings—ended up being the perfect finishing touches, thanks to Donald Lawrence and Sir, the Baptist.”
