Olivia Rodrigo is proving that kindness doesn’t need a spotlight. The Grammy-winning singer quietly stepped in to help a struggling college student after seeing her TikTok plea for help.
TikToker Jamie Causey had posted about her struggles to pay for her final semester at the University of Alabama. She had been working multiple jobs and was experiencing severe financial stress. “I was at the end of my rope,” she said. Then, unexpectedly, Rodrigo slid into her DMs offering to cover the more than $5,000 cost.
Jamie accepted the gift and kept the singer’s generosity to herself until now. After graduating as the first in her family to earn a college degree, she decided to share the full story in a touching TikTok, complete with text exchange screenshots showing Rodrigo’s offer. “Olivia, I don’t know if you’ll ever understand how much that means to me,” Jamie shared. “You made me feel like I belong on this platform. You didn’t owe me anything. You just chose to show kindness to a stranger”.
Rodrigo later commented on the post, writing simply: “Congratulations!!!! I’m so happy for you”.
