Diesel Brothers Star David “Heavy D” Sparks Faces Divorce Shock After 15 Years

The high-octane world of the Diesel Brothers has hit a sudden roadblock. David “Heavy D” Sparks, the larger-than-life star of the Discovery Channel’s hit series, is facing divorce after his wife of 15 years filed court papers in Utah.

Ashley Sparks submitted the divorce petition on March 10, 2026, in a Utah court. The filing marks the end of a relationship that began at a church in 2008 and produced three children. No specific reason for the split was listed in the documents, leaving fans and followers to piece together a story that has been quietly unfolding for months.

David and Ashley’s connection was anything but Hollywood. They met in 2008 at a Utah church, a foundation that seemed solid enough to build a family upon. Two years later, in August 2010, they married. The couple went on to have three children: daughter Charley Mae and sons Beau and Mack.

For years, Ashley offered glimpses into their relationship through social media, painting a picture of a marriage that embraced imperfection. As this Diesel Brothers star divorce unfolds, those past words now carry the weight of prophecy.

In August 2021, as the couple celebrated 11 years of marriage, Ashley shared a candid Instagram reflection that captured the complexity of their bond.

“I used to always say to Dave, ‘I love everything about you.’ The last time I said it out of habit, I laughed and took it back. ‘Actually, no I don’t. But I’m madly in love with you!’ We both laughed,” she wrote.

The post continued with wisdom earned through more than a decade together. “It’s honestly kinda refreshing to realize that. No one is perfect. No marriage is perfect. And no two people love every. single. thing. about. each. other.”

Ashley acknowledged that both she and David carried quirks the other found frustrating but emphasized their commitment to “focus on the good.”

“Marriage has its ups and downs for sure. We’ve had our fair share of both. But I’m realizing if you focus on the downs. You tend to get more downs. You focus on the ups. You tend to get more ups. And when you’re so focused on those ups, it’s waaay easier to get through the downs when they inevitably come your way.”

Those downs, it seems, have now arrived.

David built his fame on diesel and determination. Alongside friend David “Diesel Dave” Kiley, he created a YouTube channel showcasing their Utah-based truck customization shop. The channel caught the attention of car enthusiast and former late-night host Jay Leno, leading to the 2016 premiere of Diesel Brothers on Discovery Channel.

The show ran for seven seasons, ending in 2020, and followed the crew as they repaired and customized massive pickup trucks. It turned Sparks into a reality TV icon, but fame brought scrutiny along with fortune.

Last year, David found himself on the other side of the law. In October 2025, he was arrested in Utah after allegedly failing to pay fees connected to a separate lawsuit. He spent three days in custody before addressing the situation directly with fans.

In an Instagram video released after his release, David didn’t mince words.

“As many of you know, I just got out of jail and it’s time to set the record straight,” he said. “Yes, I was arrested on Tuesday morning as I was preparing to board a jet to speak at an event on behalf of the State of Utah. Yes, I just walked out of three days of solitary confinement in the maximum-security wing of the Salt Lake County jail.”

David insisted the arrest wasn’t about refusing to pay money he rightfully owed. Instead, he framed it as standing up to a broken system.

“This was about standing up to a broken system that’s been hijacked by bad actors, mostly lawyers, who have learned to twist environmental laws into personal profit machines,” he claimed. “If I didn’t fight back, it would just leave this door open for them to continue doing as they’ve done to 20 plus other people and companies here in Utah alone over the past decade.”

Whether those legal troubles contributed to the marital breakdown remains unknown. The divorce filing offers no explanation, and David has not publicly commented on the split.

The couple now faces the difficult process of untangling 15 years of shared life. With three children involved, the proceedings will likely focus on custody arrangements and the division of assets accumulated during David’s rise to fame.

For now, both David and Ashley have remained silent on the filing. Fans who watched the Diesel Brothers conquer the automotive world now watch as one of its central figures navigates a different kind of challenge, one no amount of horsepower can overcome.
