The complete episode rollout for The Boys’ fifth and final season has arrived, confirming when viewers can watch Billy Butcher and Homelander settle their score once and for all. The satirical superhero series will begin its victory lap on April 8, 2026, with the first two episodes dropping simultaneously on Prime Video. From there, the remaining six installments will release weekly every Wednesday, building toward a series finale on May 20 that promises to deliver the gory, emotionally devastating conclusion showrunner Eric Kripke has been planning since day one.

The final season episodes follow a strategic release pattern designed to maximize the tension. After the two-episode premiere on April 8, fans will get new installments on April 15, April 22, April 29, May 6, and May 13 before the eighth and final episode arrives on May 20. This six-week journey marks the end of an eight-year run that redefined how audiences view superhero storytelling, trading caped idealism for corporate corruption and political satire drenched in blood.

The world of The Boys has never looked darker. Homelander now controls America through martial law, his erratic egomania shaping every aspect of daily life. Hughie, Mother’s Milk, and Frenchie find themselves imprisoned in so-called “Freedom Camps,” detention centers dressed up as rehabilitation. Annie struggles to build any meaningful resistance against an overwhelming Supe force that answers directly to the man in the cape. Kimiko has vanished completely, her whereabouts unknown even to her closest friends.

Then Butcher returns. Not the broken, dying man fans remember, but someone willing to go further than ever before. Armed with a virus capable of wiping out every Supe on the planet, he sets in motion events that will force everyone to choose sides. The trailer makes one thing clear: nobody walks away from this war unchanged.

Karl Urban returns as the maniacal Butcher, his body now transformed by the Compound V tumor that both empowers and kills him. Antony Starr brings Homelander back for one final bow, the character’s quest for absolute power reaching its logical endpoint. Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, and Karen Fukuhara round out the core team, each facing impossible choices as the series hurtles toward its conclusion.

Jensen Ackles returns as Soldier Boy, thawed out and ready to confront the son who abandoned him. His Supernatural co-star Jared Padalecki joins the chaos in an undisclosed role, finally completing the reunion fans have begged for since Ackles first appeared. Misha Collins makes it a trio of Winchester alumni, while Daveed Diggs and Seth Rogen appear in guest capacities. The Gen V cast crosses over as well, with Jaz Sinclair, London Thor, and Lizze Broadway bringing their young Supes into the main storyline.

This ending was always the plan. Kripke envisioned five seasons from the beginning, a complete arc that would take the Boys from angry vigilantes to something resembling heroes. The show wraps production with its cast and crew knowing they delivered exactly what they set out to make. Filming concluded in July 2025, with Kripke calling it bittersweet but expressing overwhelming gratitude for the team that brought his vision to life.

The Boys universe doesn’t end here. Gen V season two awaits, and the prequel series Vought Rising will explore the early days of Compound V and the original superhero team. But the main storyline, the one focused on a British bastard and a golden god with mommy issues, reaches its finish line on May 20. Whether anyone survives to see what comes next remains very much in question.
