Television presenter Angela Scanlon has revealed why she fiercely protects parts of her private life, especially as someone living in the spotlight. The 41-year-old, known for her work on The One Showand as a former Strictly Come Dancing contestant, spoke candidly in a new interview with Notebookmagazine from The Sunday Mirror.

“Not Everything Needs to Be Shared”

Angela explained that while public curiosity is understandable, she draws the line when it comes to exposing her entire life online.

“I think having something that’s private is really important for me,” she said.

“When you’re in the public eye, there’s this sense of people really wanting to see every part of your life… but it’s striking a balance.”

She added that, like many people, she too gets drawn in by other people’s social media lives.

“I want to see inside the fridges of the people I follow,” she joked.

But for Angela, it’s about preserving the sanctity of “real life” at home.

“To be able to come home, close the door and know that this is real life — particularly when things are hard — it makes me feel more grounded.”

A Protective Mother and a Mindful Storyteller

Angela is married to businessman Roy Horgan and together they share two young daughters, Ruby (7) and Marnie (3). She admitted that her instinct to protect her family is strong — but also complicated.

“There’s definitely a protectiveness over my family life. I’m trying to figure out what the line is there,” she shared.

As a podcast host and radio presenter, Angela often finds her personal experiences seeping into her professional storytelling. But she remains cautious about how much to reveal.

“I Want to Press Pause on This Stage of Life”

With two young children at home, Angela cherishes the fleeting moments of early motherhood.

“All my friends tell me that between zero and eight years old is the sweet spot, so I’m like, ‘How do I take it all in?’ I want to press pause on this stage of life.”

She reflects a sentiment familiar to many parents — the desire to savor every giggle, tantrum, and bedtime story before the years rush by.

Angela’s candid reflections highlight a growing awareness among celebrities to set boundaries — not just for themselves, but for their families too. In a world obsessed with constant sharing, her decision to keep part of her life sacred is a powerful act of balance and self-preservation.
