Lucasfilm has officially confirmed that Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord Season 2 will premiere on Disney+ in 2027. Head writer Matt Michnovetz revealed the news during a panel at D23, locking in the next installment of the hit animated series. The 2027 target aligns with Lucasfilm’s stacked schedule celebrating the 50th anniversary of the franchise.
The renewal follows a critically acclaimed first season that debuted earlier this year to unanimous praise. Boasting a 98% Rotten Tomatoes score and an 8.7 rating on IMDb, Maul – Shadow Lord officially stands as the highest-rated Star Wars project of all time. The dark crime thriller follows Darth Maul (voiced by Sam Witwer) as he builds his underworld empire in the shadows.
