Reality television star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi is opening up to fans about her health after revealing her diagnosis of stage 1 cervical adenocarcinoma.
The 38-year-old Jersey Shore alum confirmed that she will be undergoing a hysterectomy as her primary course of treatment. The decision follows years of abnormal Pap smear results and recent follow-up procedures, including a colposcopy and a cone biopsy that identified cancerous cells on her cervix.
After tests confirmed the cancer was caught in its earliest stage and had not spread deep into the cervical tissue, doctors presented Polizzi with treatment options, including radiation, chemotherapy, or surgery.
Polizzi chose to proceed with a hysterectomy to remove her uterus and cervix while preserving her ovaries, bypassing the need for chemo or radiation.
“It’s not the news that I was hoping for, but also not the worst news just because they caught it so early,” Polizzi shared in a candid TikTok video. “I think the smart choice here is the hysterectomy. I’ll still keep my ovaries, which is a good sign. But yeah, gotta get the cervix and uterus out.”
A central message of Polizzi’s public updates is encouraging women to prioritize routine gynecological care. Polizzi admitted to delaying follow-up testing for three to four years due to fear and discomfort before finally scheduling her biopsy.
