Nigeria’s Super Eagles have officially qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with two games still left in the qualifying series. This achievement follows Libya’s surprising 1-0 win over Rwanda, which secured Nigeria’s position at the top of Group D with 10 points.

The Super Eagles are set to play Benin Republic’s Cheetahs on Thursday in Abidjan and will conclude their qualifying campaign against Rwanda at home on Monday. With only one match left for both Rwanda (5 points) and Libya (4 points), neither team can overtake Nigeria.

The 2025 AFCON, the tournament’s 35th edition, will be held in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026. The Super Eagles, three-time African champions, were runners-up in the previous tournament held in Côte d’Ivoire.
