FC Barcelona has confirmed the injury recovery timelines for two of its key players, Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski. Yamal, who suffered a grade 1 high right ankle sprain, is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks. Lewandowski, dealing with a lower back injury, is anticipated to be out for around ten days.
Concerns over Yamal’s fitness emerged after he missed Saturday’s training session alongside teammate Dani Olmo. Barcelona later disclosed that Yamal had sustained the ankle injury midweek in the Champions League clash with Red Star Belgrade. In Sunday’s match against Real Sociedad, Barcelona suffered a 1-0 loss, with Lewandowski controversially denied a goal due to a back issue he picked up during play.
Both players will also miss upcoming UEFA Nations League matches, with Yamal sidelined for Spain and Lewandowski unavailable for Poland. Lewandowski is expected to return to action following the international break, but Yamal’s availability remains uncertain for Barcelona’s November 23 match against Celta Vigo. If his recovery stretches to three weeks, Yamal could miss subsequent games, including La Liga matches against Las Palmas and possibly the Champions League fixture against Brest.
Yamal’s absence has already impacted Barcelona’s domestic performance, with the team recording losses in games where the winger was not available. His anticipated return by December 4 against Mallorca could offer much-needed reinforcement as Barca looks to maintain momentum in both La Liga and the Champions League.
