Former Liverpool player Jamie Redknapp didn’t hold back in his critique of Manchester City after their 2-1 loss to Brighton on Saturday. Redknapp described City’s second-half display as one of the worst he’s witnessed under manager Pep Guardiola, calling their play “abject” and pointing out their lack of defensive organization and forward momentum.

During his post-match analysis on Sky Sports, Redknapp said,

That is one of the worst halves of football I have seen from a Pep Guardiola side. They didn’t defend, didn’t win individual battles, and didn’t pass the ball forward at times.

City initially controlled the first half, but Brighton turned the tide in the second half with goals from Joao Pedro and Matt O’Riley after Brighton manager Maurice Hurzeler made key substitutions. This defeat adds to the pressure on Guardiola’s side as they aim to stay competitive in the Premier League race.
