The legal battle surrounding Hollywood star Halle Berry and her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez, has taken a dramatic turn as family members step forward to address shocking accusations. Martinez recently filed legal documents in the Los Angeles Superior Court accusing Berry of physically abusing their 13-year-old son, Maceo, and subsequently sought sole custody along with a temporary restraining order. In response to the high-profile claims, Berry’s 18-year-old daughter, Nahla whom the actress shares with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry has broken her silence to fiercely defend her mother.
In a sworn legal declaration filed in court, Nahla offered a transparent look into her upbringing and her dynamic with her mother. Describing Berry as a loving and devoted parent, Nahla noted that while the award-winning actress can be strict when necessary and expects respect and adherence to rules, she is fundamentally warm, supportive, and deeply involved in the lives of her children. Nahla firmly rejected the narrative presented in Martinez’s filing, stating that after living with Berry her entire life, the abuse allegations are completely inconsistent with the reality she has witnessed.
Nahla explicitly addressed the serious nature of the claims, emphasizing that she has never witnessed her mother act violently toward anyone or engage in conduct resembling a chokehold or physical abuse. Furthermore, Nahla’s declaration brought up past memories, recalling an instance from her childhood where she witnessed Martinez acting aggressively toward her own father, Gabriel Aubry, in their driveway.
As the legal proceedings continue and both sides prepare for upcoming court hearings to resolve the contested custody arrangement, Nahla expressed deep concern for her brother Maceo and a strong desire to reconnect with him amidst the family turmoil.
