Lil Durk’s Dad Says Family Is ‘On a High’ After Not Guilty Verdict

Lil Durk’s family is celebrating. Speaking outside a downtown Los Angeles courthouse Friday, the rapper’s father, Big Durk, told reporters he is “bursting with joy” and can barely contain his happiness after a jury found his son not guilty on all five charges in his federal murder-for-hire case . He said the entire family is on a “high” following the Lil Durk not guilty verdict, adding that his son always knew this day would come. Now, the family is planning a major celebration.

The acquittal came after three days of deliberations. Jurors found Durk not guilty of conspiracy, stalking using a dangerous weapon, stalking resulting in death, and two murder-for-hire charges. Prosecutors had alleged Durk hired a hit team to kill rival rapper Quando Rondo in retaliation for the 2020 death of his friend King Von. The gunmen fired 18 shots at Quando’s Escalade outside the Beverly Center in 2022, killing Quando’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, instead. Durk’s defense argued his former assistant, Kavon Grant, ordered the shooting while trying to impress his boss.

Celebration spilled outside the courthouse. Video captured DeenTheGreat and Adrien Broner reacting to the verdict, both all smiles as they celebrated the rapper beating the case. Despite the acquittal, Durk remains in custody and faces a separate racketeering trial scheduled to begin October 5. For now, however, his family is focused on the victory. “We’re planning a big celebration,” Big Durk said.
