Burna Boy’s close associate Rahman Jago has confirmed that Nigerian dancer Poco Lee has been released from custody in the United Kingdom, where he had been held on remand since August. The socialite’s cryptic social media posts on Friday, September 11, sparked widespread speculation among fans, who interpreted them as a quiet celebration of a breakthrough in the dancer’s case. Viral reports later confirmed the release, with blogger Cutie Julls noting that both Burna Boy and Rahman Jago played significant roles in securing his freedom.
Poco Lee, born Iweh Odinaka, had been held at HMP Belmarsh after being formally charged with five sexual offences, including one count of attempted rape, two counts of rape, and two counts of assault by penetration. The charges followed an incident that reportedly occurred during his trip to the UK for the Davido and Friends event at Crystal Palace Bowl on August 14. His management has consistently maintained that the allegations do not amount to proof of guilt and urged the public to allow the legal process to take its course.
Despite the release, the legal case is far from over. Poco Lee is scheduled to appear before Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 15 for a plea and trial preparation hearing. A reporting restriction remains in place to protect the identity of the complainant.
