Billionaire Attorney John Morgan Says 23 Remote Workers Quit Over Cameras: “They Don’t Want to Work”

John Morgan, billionaire founder of the personal injury firm Morgan & Morgan, is under fire after revealing that 23 employees quit within the first week of implementing a strict remote-work surveillance policy.

Morgan, 70, appeared on the Aug. 27 episode of The Iced Coffee Hour podcast, where he detailed his approach to employees who wanted to work from home. “Here’s what we’re going to do. You can work from home, but guess what? We’re going to put a camera on your computer. We’re going to put a camera up your a**,” he said. He claimed the cameras would only show employees as pixels, but the firm would also track keystrokes and measure productivity scores.

The policy resulted in an immediate exodus. “The first week, 23 people quit,” Morgan said. He argued the resignations proved his point: “It’s not that they don’t want to work from home. They don’t want to f—ing work”.

Morgan’s comments have drawn sharp criticism online. Critics argued that effective management should focus on results, not surveillance. One user wrote, “If you can’t tell if people are getting their work done without a camera constantly being on them, maybe you’re not qualified to be anyone’s boss”. Others pointed out that the 23 departures said more about the policy than the workers who left, with one observer noting: “A policy that drives people out the door the week it arrives is telling a story about the policy, not just the people who left”. Critics also highlighted the irony that Morgan was sitting on a podcast talking about other people’s work ethic.
