Megan Thee Stallion is entering a new era of independence with a major business move. She announced a new partnership with Interscope Records, which will provide global distribution and additional support for her label, Hot Girl Productions. The deal marks “a major milestone” in the next phase of Megan’s independent career. Most importantly, Megan will retain complete ownership of her masters and publishing.

“I’ve always wanted to create music on my terms while building a legacy that extends beyond the industry,” Megan said in a statement. “This distribution partnership with Interscope allows me to stay true to my creative vision while also increasing my global reach. I’m excited for this next chapter of growth and the expansion of my Hot Girl Productions empire”.

The 31-year-old rapper departs from Warner Music Group after signing an “innovative agreement” with the label in February 2024, which also allowed her to retain ownership while utilizing UMG’s distribution services. She’s not the first superstar to make the leap from WMG to Interscope this year, Ed Sheeran joined Interscope in July.

New music is on the horizon. Megan has teased her upcoming Act: III album, which she says marks the return of her Tina Snow alter ego. “ACT III IS ON THEE WAY HOTTIES,” she posted on X.

“From the moment Megan emerged, it was clear she was a singular artist with an unmistakable voice and an extraordinary ability to shape culture on her own terms,” said Steve Berman, vice chairman of Interscope Capitol.
