Beyoncé is back with another surprise for the Beyhive. Just weeks after officially releasing the fan-favorite leak “Morning Dew (Donk),” she has dropped a four-track Morning Dew (Donk) Remix Pack, and Jay-Z is on two of the versions. The EP arrived unannounced in the early hours of August 5th via Parkwood Entertainment, giving fans three fresh interpretations of the song alongside the original.
Jay-Z, credited as JAŸ-Z with an umlaut over the Y, delivers his first new verse in years on the remix. His contributions include a fresh verse on the main remix and a stripped-down appearance on the acoustic version. He addresses critics with characteristic confidence, rapping lines like: “Top of the top, sloppy as a morning dew / the watch is vintage, I don’t need nothing new”. The remix also samples The Isley Brothers’ “Between the Sheets” and Sheck Wes’ “Mo Bamba,” giving the track an aggressive, rowdy edge.
“Morning Dew (Donk)” has a long history. Originally recorded around 2013 during sessions for Beyoncé’s self-titled album, snippets leaked online in 2021, and a fuller version surfaced in 2023, becoming a viral TikTok sound. Beyoncé finally released it officially on July 4th, marking her first Hot 100 entry in three years when it debuted at No. 7 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The remix pack extends that momentum.
The track serves as the lead single for the upcoming 20th-anniversary edition of B’Day, Beyoncé’s sophomore album originally released in September 2006 . The deluxe reissue is scheduled for September 4th, coinciding with the album’s anniversary and Beyoncé’s birthday. With contributions from Pharrell Williams and The-Dream, the song is a slow-burning R&B jam that connects her creative past with her present control over her narrative .
