Lil Baby and his nonprofit The Jones Project turned Atlanta’s West End into a back-to-school celebration this weekend, hosting their sixth annual Back to School Fest at West End Production Park. The event served an estimated 4,000 students from kindergarten through 12th grade, providing essential resources ahead of the new academic year.
The festival offered a wide range of free services, including school supplies, uniforms, clothing, backpacks, sneakers, and gift cards. Students also received complimentary haircuts and braiding services on-site. Beyond the essentials, the event featured carnival rides, games, bounce houses, face painting, and free food from Zaxby’s, Slim & Husky’s Pizza, and Dr. Bombay Ice Cream.
Lil Baby first launched the initiative in 2021 with the goal of uplifting youth and families in his hometown. Since then, the Back to School Fest has grown into one of Atlanta’s most significant community events. The rapper’s ongoing commitment to the West End neighborhood extends beyond the annual festival. The Jones Project focuses on providing year-round access to food, clothing, educational support, and safe spaces for local families.
Several Atlanta city officials attended the event, including city council members and a sitting judge, highlighting the broader community significance of the annual gathering . Lil Baby made a personal appearance, interacting with attendees, taking selfies, and signing autographs . His genuine involvement has earned praise from parents and community members.
“It means a lot to be able to come back and give back, because I know so much comes behind not having shoes and school utensils and stuff for school, because that be a lot of kids’ reason to steer off,” Lil Baby told The Atlanta Voice. “To know that the parents don’t have to stress about this part makes me feel good”.
